Having said that, I have never seen a Hepburn fan — at least, not within my circle — talk that way about Meryl. Not even once. Not even myself. I’m entitled to feel a little protective over my favorite’s “status” — and it’s purely bragging rights, but I know no other way, yo — yet I stop at derogatory name-calling.
…do you need for me to explain the “beef” Hepburn had with Streep? Like, is that what all of this hostility is about? Or are all Streep’s fans just naturally crude? [Hyperbole, obvi.] Because, God forbid, an actor voices her opinion on another — off record — as if that’s something completely unlike what human beings do. “Click click click,” was all she said, in dismissal of Meryl’s Method training. It isn’t beyond the realm of possibility that her comment was fueled by jealously—-can an actor from such a background possibly be that good? And, hey, at least she didn’t say Meryl’s feet were “horribly big and distracting!” She saved that chestnut for Glenn Close. Oh. Anyway, I’m sure Streep and Close are perfectly beatific in their personal lives, yes?
And it’s so clear that Streep is acting up there. So maybe Hepburn’s “click click click” comment wasn’t too off-mark. W/e w/e.
